Many hundred years ago each man built his own house and made what
furniture he needed , and grew all his own food, and his wife made all the
clothes for the family. But men very soon found that it was much better to divide the work
among them, so that one built houses, another made chairs and tables and
another grew corn and so on. You can easily see that this was a better plan because by
always doing the same kind of work you can do it far more quickly and easily.
Practice makes a man perfect. So now -a- days all work is divided up as much as possible . Not
so very long ago, before machine was invented, even such a tiny thing as a pin was not made by one
man, but by a dozen or more, each doing his particular bit of work. One straightened out the wire, another cut it
into lengths, another sharpen the point another put the head on etc.
This is division of labour .
